FixerJi didn’t start by building a platform

A managed home-services venture — repairs, cleaning and painting with upfront prices, verified professionals and a local operations team. Built on MergeMind Marketplace, so the months usually spent on accounts, payments and payouts went into the service itself.

FixerJi is a product MergeMind built on its own platform — not a customer.

Visit the FixerJi site

The public pages are always up. Browsing the live catalog and booking depend on the demo environment, which is not always online.

The business

Customers want a repair done without chasing anyone: a clear base price, a scheduled visit and every update in one place. Professionals want steady local work on their own schedule. The operator in the middle has to match the two quickly — and make sure everyone gets paid correctly.

That is three kinds of users, money that must be taken before the job but paid out only after it, and a matching problem measured in minutes. It is exactly the kind of business that gets quoted as a six-month custom build.

What a business like this usually builds first

Separate sign-in and permissions for customers, professionals and operators

Taking payment up front, holding it, then paying the professional after the job

A ledger that can explain every split between professional and platform

Keeping each brand’s or city’s data isolated

Emails and alerts at every step

FixerJi took all of that from MergeMind.

The real thing

One booking, end to end

Captured from the running product, with a ₹199 payment taken through Razorpay’s test checkout. The city, names and numbers are sample data.

The customer

Sees what a service costs before booking, pays, and can talk to the professional.

Five trades, each with a starting price shown before anything is booked.
Pay now and the money is held. It is released to the professional only after the visit, and returned as FixerJi credit if the booking is cancelled.
Confirmed once the payment is held, with the slot and a “payment protected” badge.
A chat for this booking only. Support can read it if either side asks for help.

The professional

Hindi first, on a phone.

The offer arrives in Hindi, with the time left to answer and what the professional earns.
The split, in the professional’s own app: the customer paid ₹199, FixerJi’s share is ₹39.80 and ₹159.20 goes to the professional.

Operations

The team that runs the city sees the same booking.

While an offer is out, operations sees who it is waiting on and how long is left.
Then the settlement: gross, commission, payout and status. The console rounds to whole rupees; the professional’s app shows ₹39.80 and ₹159.20.
Pictures are unretouched apart from cropping, sizing and hiding the short booking reference the console prints. The photographs in the service list are the product’s own stock images.
Built vs inherited

The part only this business needed

FixerJi spent its effort here — everything on the right came from MergeMind: its engine and the shared core.

A multi-trade service catalogue

Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, home cleaning and painting — with base prices shown first. Professional supply is added trade by trade.

A five-step booking flow

Address, service details, schedule, review and payment.

Professional onboarding

Apply, submit documents, get verified and trained, then go active.

Dispatch

Jobs are scored and offered to eligible professionals within a timed window, then escalated to ops.

Settlement

Payment captured when the job completes and split between professional and platform.

Two-way reviews

Ratings that feed back into who gets the next job offer.

A professional app in their own language

Big-button job offers, earnings and payout detail on a phone — in Hindi today.

An operations console

Support cases, live demand and provider status in one place — with the power to reschedule or cancel a booking and credit the customer in full.

Private booking chat

A private thread per booking for the customer and the assigned professional; staff access is limited to authorised roles.

From MergeMind

Accounts & roles for all three personas

Payment hold & capture

Split-settlement ledger

Tenant isolation

Email notifications

Chat service for booking threads

Wallet for customer credit

FixerJi’s web app is assembled from MergeMind SDK and UI-kit packages — sign-in, tenancy, chat, notifications, payments and the API client came from the platform.

Honest status

What’s real — and what isn’t yet

Real today

The full journey above ran end to end against the real platform stack on 14 October 2026 — payment in Razorpay test mode, so no real money moved

Payment held at booking and split at settlement, recorded on the ledger

A new-job alert reached a professional’s phone by Web Push in 3.6 seconds in that run

Operations stepped in on a problem booking — reschedule, cancel, full customer credit — and passed all 79 checks of the operations drill

Multiple roles with their own permissions, isolated per tenant

Not yet

Open to real customers — FixerJi is pre-launch

Job alerts have not yet been field-tested on real professionals’ phones, and SMS is not connected

Payments run in Razorpay test mode, and the journey has not yet been certified on public hosting

The operations console has been exercised on a quiet tenant — behaviour at volume is untested
